The Community Kitchens
of Birmingham
Community Kitchens of
Birmingham is a nonprofit organization dedicated to
feeding anyone who is hungry.
Since 1980 Community
Kitchens has served the
hungry, homeless and
working poor without
regard to situation or
condition. Those who are
in need of a warm and
nutritious meal will
find our doors open 365
days a year.
Save Darfur
Darfur has been
embroiled in a deadly
conflict for over three
years. At least 400,000
people have been killed;
more than 2 million
innocent civilians have
been forced to flee
their homes and now live
in displaced-persons
camps in Sudan or in
refugee camps in
neighboring Chad; and
more than 3.5 million
men, women, and children
are completely reliant
on international aid for
survival. Not since the
Rwandan genocide of 1994
has the world seen such
a calculated campaign of
displacement,
starvation, rape, and
mass slaughter.

Voice of the Wetlands
"Louisiana's
wetlands are inhabited and surrounded by life. A
life nurtured historically by the natural flow of
the Mississippi River, America's mighty artery which
deposited sediment to create and shape the wetlands
of south Louisiana as it held the Gulf of Mexico in
check.
It's more than a Louisiana culture. It's America's
culture. As the wetlands supports this culture, it
serves a crucial role in the American economy.
Seafood. Natural gas. Oil, petrochemicals. Plastics.
Protection of population centers and major
industrial hubs from hurricanes."
Also,
learn more about our wetlands by seeing the iMAX
movie,
Hurricane on the Bayou. Two members of the
CC team saw it in New Orleans...it's a very moving
film.
