How we got engaged?

Earlier that week, I ask John if he
wanted to do date night on Saturday
(December 1) and he said Yes, of course! It
had been a while since we went out on our
own together and we both said it would be
great to get out and have some one on one
time together. We were hanging out at the
townhouse that Saturday early afternoon and
I wanted to watch Love Actually. We put the
Christmas tree up on that Thursday before
and I was really starting to get into the
Christmas spirit. We put the movie in, got a
couple of blankets and pillows to enjoy the
movie on our cozy couch. During the movie he
said we needed to be ready by 6PM because we
had dinner reservations. I was really
excited, I thought "maybe he got tickets to
Stevie Wonder"! I had been singing it all
week and secretly wanted to go, which I
think he caught on to. After the movie had
finished, John lit all the candles in the
house and I was like what are you doing...? |

 He said we were
starting date night early and just to relax. It seemed a
little odd to me because the sun had not gone down yet so I
didn't really understand why every candle in the house
needed to be lit. (It did not even occur to me what was
going on). I noticed that John had a blanket wrapped around
him and ran upstairs. (Still clueless) When he came back
down he said get off the couch and come with him. I got off
the couch and said, "what is wrong with you, you are acting
so weird". He said come outside on the deck and look at how
beautiful the sunset was (I still had NO clue), he said how
much he loved the movie Love Actually and how it makes him
think about how lucky he is to have me, then he got down on
one knee and said, "sorry this took so long, I love you and
I want to spend the rest of my life with you"! I saw the
ring and heard the words he was saying and I felt SO
overwhelmed with excitement! My dream had come true!
We were so happy and excited! We watched the sunset, danced
to "our" song (Forever My Friend by Ray Lamontagne) in the
living room next to the Christmas Tree and fell in love with
each other all over again! The night was not over yet! We
got ready and John took me to our favorite restaurant Zola.
There was a beautiful table set with little hearts all over
the table and a nice bottle of champaign chilling for us. We
had such a wonderful dinner (which you can see in the
picture above), then headed back home to celebrate our
engagement with our great wonderful neighbors/friends. It is
a day that I will never forget! I love you John and can't
wait to spend the rest of our lives together! You are my
dream come true!! |
